Position Summary: 

The National Domestic Workers Alliance ( organizes domestic workers in the United States for respect, recognition and labor standards. We work to guarantee labor protections for domestic workers by winning legislation at the state level, pushing for regulatory changes at the national level, through the International Labor Organization at the global level, and elevating domestic workers as key leaders in building a powerful movement for social and global justice. The Alliance formed in 2007 at the US Social Forum and currently represents 60+ affiliates across the country.

NDWA recognizes the role that administration and organizational infrastructure building plays in supporting a healthy organizational ecology. The Operations and Development Coordinator will serve as an integral part of the staff and will provide onsite administrative and logistical support to the Development team, Administrative team, and NDWA staff as needed. This position will primarily be responsible for 1) Supporting the Development team with foundation fundraising and operations; and 2) Performing general administrative duties in support of NDWA organizational systems and the NY office.

  • Providing general administrative and operations support for the organization and New York office, including:
    • Answering phones and general inquiry emails and supporting NDWA member requests;
    • Supporting staff and alliance-wide meetings, events and mobilizations as needed
    • Managing office and technology inventory;
    • Preparing outgoing checks and weekly deposits for the Finance Team; and
    • Handling incoming administrative and operations requests from staff.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for the Development team, including:
    • Coordinating and tracking all grants received from foundation supporters;
    • Coordinate appropriate staff to receive content for proposals and reports;
    • Maintaining donor database and Development team records; and
    • Researching foundation prospects.
  • Participate in organizational meetings and retreats as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: 
  • Excellent relational skills: friendly, diplomatic, patient, cheerful, and a pleasant disposition;
  • Expertise, skill, interest and commitment in doing administrative work;
  • Ability to commit at least 2 years to the position;
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and tasks;
  • Skilled proficiency with technology and computer operations and programs, specifically:
    • MS office suite
    • Macbooks and Apple products
    • G-suite
    • Online Cloud Computing and other web-based programs
    • Database entry experience preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and well organized;
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations;
  • Self motivated and a proven ability to work independently and in partnership with highly motivated Administrative and Development teams;
  • Agreement and alignment with NDWA’s vision and values;
  • Understanding of issues facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and other communities of color.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaker preferred; and
